First I want to show you a very simple technique to maximize your chances of winning at Roulette. Now this one is not rocket science and is not going to make you a millionaire but it can be a lot of fun.

Make sure you read this whole section carefully before giving this system a try:

Now don’t let all this choice confuse you, they are all basically the same with some subtle differences. The main differences are that American Roulette has a zero and a double zero whereas European and French Roulette only have a single zero. The zero is what gives the house its advantage so the less of them the better. In American Roulette the odds of a particular number coming up are one out of thirty eight possibilities or 2.63% (zero, double zero and numbers 1 to 36 making up the total of 38) whereas in European and French Roulette the odds of a particular number coming up are one out of thirty seven possibilities or 2.70% (zero and numbers 1 to 36 making up the total of 37). In all cases the payout for a one number bet (known as a “straight up bet”) is 35 to 1 i.e. if the number you bet on comes up then for every one rand that you bet you would receive R35 (or a total of R36 including your initial bet). Now this gives the house a 3/38 or 7.89% advantage on American Roulette and 2/37 or 5.41% advantage on European / French Roulette for straight up bets. Considering this we will give American Roulette a skip and concentrate on European and French Roulette as the odds are more in our favour.

Looking at red /black, odd/even , 1-18 / 19-36 bets where the payout is 1:1, it does not matter which one you choose but we will choose a colour bet as this is most commonly used. If you bet red and a red number comes up when the Roulette wheel is spun you will be paid one rand for every one rand that you bet. Now, the odds of a particular colour coming up are 18/37 or 48.65% (European and French Roulette). This gives the house a 1.35% advantage. Lets see how we are going to try and reduce this advantage through a running example.
